Our Legacy

HBCU Legacy

Honoring the Schools That Built Us

Historically Black Colleges and Universities have moved millions of our people from poverty into the middle class and have shaped Black excellence for generations. The Forty Acres Educational Foundation stands on that legacy. We honor our nearby HBCUs not as distant institutions, but as family and future partners in this work.

Cheyney University of Pennsylvania

Cheyney is the nation's first HBCU and a living symbol of what it means to create opportunity when the world is not looking out for you. Our curriculum is rooted in that same spirit: radical access to knowledge, discipline, and self-respect. We highlight Cheyney scholars, past and present, to show our students what Black genius looks like in real life.

Lincoln University

Lincoln has produced leaders who shaped nations, from Nnamdi Azikiwe of Nigeria to countless educators, activists, and professionals. Their example reminds our students that they are not just trying to “get out of the neighborhood”—they are training to lead communities, cities, and countries.

Delaware State University

Delaware State has a long tradition of preparing Black students to succeed in STEM, business, education, and public service. For Forty Acres, Delaware State represents the bridge between classroom survival and real-world skills: trades, technology, and wealth-building that can feed families for generations.

Our goal is to partner with these HBCUs as thought partners, guest faculty, and pipeline destinations for our students—not someday, but starting now.
